"Garry
and I wrote a lot of
different kind of songs. "Saigon Girls" was just another expression of
the anti Viet Nam feelings we all shared back then. I still remember
the record sleeve, a B52 flying in the clouds, in black and white. Hope
and Pray for Peace." -- Songwriter Alan Gordon, author of "Happy

"Saigon Girls"
As
another ominous scythe
in the sky
begins forming
above, similar to the one which hovered over the tumultuous summer of
’68, does
a feeling of déjà
vu start creeping up your
spine?
That’s a bit how we’re
feeling, which made us dig back into our personal archives for a
forgotten
musical statement about what was happening then, here
submitted
for your
approval (or disapproval…)…
It’s an insouciant little instrumental tune penned by
fellow bandmates Garry Bonner and Alan Gordon (who wrote
“Happy
Together,” among
other upbeat ‘60s hits), which they called “Saigon
Girls.” Its
production that year was meant to be an unfolding prediction, a
contemporary
forming timeline: a clumsily-performed but seductive ditty, which
progresses
through an oblivious party into total chaos before marching off loudly,
blindly
advancing to the rear, in a wake of tears…
Of course, it proved quite accurate. But now, again?
As we work up to the coming winter scythe, it’s well to also
take
note that
the coming
Mar-Uranus conjunction of April 29, 2007, a regular predictor of
world
violence, culminates just east of Iraq -- which we are afraid, judging
from
events, makes that prediction a slam-dunk. The previous two culminated
over
Indonesia (the tsunami) and the Eastern U.S. (Katrina). We’ll
be
doing a full
article on that important astrological indicator soon, with so keep an
eye out…
